Try to write down those pieces of brilliance as soon as you can if doing so will help you preserve it. For some, writing it down can kill the brilliance. It just depends on the kind of writer you are.

If you don’t follow proper grammar, people get can get confused and not understand what you are trying to say. Besides, it’s fun to break those grammar rules to make a point.
